Church History

Saint James Missionary Baptist Church began on March 28, 2004 in a conference room at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Winston-Salem.  On this day, we began with a total of 46 members, including the shepherd of our flock, Pastor McConnel. It was there that the church officers were appointed.  In April 2004, we were blessed with a  building at 3606 Ogburn Ave, and the blessings kept pouring in. We had members with talents of which we were unaware, that came out of the wood-works. Donations were given from the unexpected. Volunteers began to come out to offer their support.  As a result, on Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004, we were ready to move into our new church home.

Our Church Motto is “Many Hands One Heart”, which is derived from the scripture located in Romans 12:4-5;  “For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we being many are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.”

The members at Saint James Missionary Baptist Church believe that it is the Christian duty for every believer to grow. Being obedient in duty, we will continuously study the Word so we can fulfill our Church Mission:

“Reaching people for Christ and developing them to be fully committed to Him”
